April 7th Meeting
Johnna Klukas is doing the demo for April. Here is what she has planned for us!
“Turning a wavy finial with simple multi-axis turning techniques. No need for specialized equipment, this can be turned between centers or with a scroll chuck using ~1″ diameter jaws. If time permits, there’s also the Sorby Wobble Chuck, a small faceplate/screw chuck system that works with any scroll chuck that has 2″ jaws.”
I have added a link to Johnna’s website in the Members Links section. Go check it out!

February Meeting
Wood Turners,
The next meeting will really suck. No, that’s not right. How about, the next meeting could be a real grind. Hmmm, not exactly right either. What I want to say is the next Southern Maine Wood Turners meeting, Feb. 3 at the Rockler store in S. Portland, will feature demos by Peter Asselyn on vacuum chucking and, if time permits, tool sharpening. Bring your sharpening questions. Come at 6:00 for socializing, the proceedings will start at 6:30. Be sure to bring something for show and share, and a chair, as seating is limited.
